It was a remarkable moment. Jesus had gone up a mountain with three of His disciples. There, we are told, He was “transfigured” in their presence. But what actually happened?

We will read two of the Gospel accounts of that moment as we seek to understand what happened, why it happened, what it meant for the disciples who were there, and what we should learn from that singular moment in time.

The 23rd Psalm is very familiar. David’s reflections on the Lord, as his shepherd, is a well-known image. But is it possible that our sense of familiarity with this psalm could leave us missing out on some of the richness of what David shares?
