What does it mean to “believe”? To “have faith”? Obviously it is important. John writes that we come to have life with God through believing, through our faith in Jesus. But have you ever really thought what that means?

Over two consecutive Thursday evenings, April 17 and 24, beginning at 6:30 pm (EST) each evening, we will be journeying through John’s Gospel to learn about the initial step into the life of faith, what it means to grow in faith, and how “believing” changes our lives. One recent attendee to this course said it helped “put so many pieces” together in coming to understand what it means to believe.

John explained that he wrote his Gospel so that his readers “may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing you may have life in His name” (John 20:31). Come and explore John’s message, John’s understanding of believing, and deepen your grasp of your own faith in Jesus.

What would it be like to talk with God and not just talk at Him, not merely saying words to Him? Could prayer really be more like conversation with Someone?

This two evening class will focus on examples from both the Old and New Testament that picture prayer as two-way communication. We will explore a Biblical framework for approaching prayer relationally, as if we really might have conversations with the Living God.

The class will meet online on two consecutive Tuesday evenings, April 22 and 29, from 6:30 until 8:30 pm (EST; US). Although the class is free, we encourage you do need to register. After you have registered, you will be provided information on how to log on to the class.

As Jesus anticipated His death and resurrection and what that would mean for His closest disciples, He told them about what they would experience in the days to come. He explained to them “life after” His death and resurrection.

That discussion is often referred to as Jesus’ “Upper Room Discourse” and is found in John 14–16. What is so critical about what Jesus shared in those moments is that we all live in that “life after” life! These words of Jesus didn’t only have significance for those in the room, but they have incredible significance for those of us who share life with Jesus when He is no longer physically present on the planet.

This three evening, on-line class (Thursdays, May 1, 8, and 15), will take us on a deep dive into Jesus’ words and all that He held out for His closest followers–and us. The class will meet, each evening, at 6:30 pm (EST, US). Registration is free, but you need to register in order to get both the needed handout and the link for the class.

We just celebrated Easter. But have you ever wondered about those 40 days after Easter? The days between Jesus’ resurrection and his ascension? What was he doing? Was he waiting for something? Did he have something to do?

On Tuesday evening, May 6, we’ll take a few hours online to look through the accounts of the resurrection and turn our attention to some of the texts that speak to those forty days. The intention? To see what the Bible tells us about what was going on with Jesus during those weeks between the resurrection and the ascension.

We know that Jesus’ death and resurrection accomplished great things for those who believe. What might be the benefits of those forty days he spent before the ascension?
