For Leaders

We’re here to serve you

Helping Leaders of Local Churches

For many years, The River has served the body of Christ. Our commitment to help Christians read and understand the Bible for themselves helps promote growth in their relationship with Jesus as well as encouraging them toward more active participation in their respective local churches.

From the start, the vision of the ministry has been to partner with local churches. Serving attendees is a big part of that. But serving and partnering with local church leaders is also a critical component of our vision.

Alongside the courses offered for all who are interested, The River builds into the life of local churches—and their leaders—in more tailored ways.

One

The River can provide in-house training, partnering with a local church’s leadership to address pertinent issues in that congregation. We’ve provided in-person classes on reading Scripture, leadership development, prayer, and small group life, among others.

Two

The River provides personal coaching and training for pastors and leaders, anchored in Scripture, to encourage them in their ministry. Whether short-term specific training or longer mentoring relationships, The River serves local leaders for their growth in Jesus as they serve their churches.

Russ Muse, Pastor
Freedom Church, Mauldin

The River has been an incredible resource for our church family. The great thing about the classes is that they are not lecture, but participatory “labs.” We have ended up hosting a number of River classes for our community and I can say that every time I could look into the eyes of our people and realize they were seeing the truth of Scripture in a fresh and encouraging way. Ultimately, The River has helped our people develop a confidence in their own ability to read Scripture well.”

Bradley Cox, Lead Pastor
Resurrection Church, Greer

The River has had a significant impact on the culture of discipleship at our church. Their “Reading Scripture” class is a prerequisite for all our small group leaders, setting the tone for how our groups approach the Bible. Many of our members have benefited greatly from the many other classes as well. I have personally grown in my relationship with Jesus, in my love for Scripture, and as a pastor/teacher through The River. The River is one of the best resources I’ve seen for pastors, church leaders, and lay persons.”

ACTS64: Pastor and elder training

Periodically, The River offers a 26-week, in person training program to equip elders and pastors and those who might potentially serve in those capacities. Over two semesters, participants learn what it means to be men of the Word and men of prayer (anchored in Acts 6:4). Please contact Brian Onken at 864-915-5613 for more information or to learn about future ACTS64 offerings.
