Learn to Read by Listening

It is quite startling when you think about it. Jesus anticipated that His followers would live like He lived, love the way He loved, and carry out the ministry He was doing. But that raises a question. Seeing as we know that He was God, how could He anticipate His followers could live in any way like He lived? After all, we aren’t God!

But maybe there is more to be seen here–more to be seen in how the Gospels present Jesus’ life and ministry in the days of His incarnation. And that “more” is the Spirit–the Spirit’s presence and role in Jesus’ life.

Over two evenings–Thursday, January 15 and 22–this online class will look deeply and honestly at just what the Gospels have to tell us about the Spirit in Jesus’ life–and what the implications are for us. We will begin, each evening, at 6:30 pm (EST, US).

Although there is no cost for the class, we’d ask you to register so that we can plan accordingly. All those who register will be sent a link and further instructions the day before the class.

Who do you look to for a good model of prayer? We all learn how to pray from someone. Paul might actually be a great model for us!

The disciples of Jesus knew they needed some help in learning to pray. They had observed Him praying and longed to pray better. For many friends of Jesus, that longing to learn to pray is still deeply felt. Drawing on the prayers that Paul wove into his epistles, The River will host an online, two-evening discussion.

These evenings will be given over to buidling an understanding of prayer by listening in on a seasoned minister, a gifted evangelist, and a passionate follower of Jesus–the apostle Paul. What better way to learn to pray than to eavesdrop on one who prayed so well!
