It is a well-known Old Testament account–Moses meeting God at a burning bush in the wilderness. Clearly, that encounter had a huge impact on Moses. That’s clear as we read the account. But a question remains. What are we to learn from what happened to him?

This one-evening class will take us into that account in Exodus 3 and, by reading attentively, discover what that moment meant for him . . . and what we might learn from his experience.

Jesus only spoke to one person about being “born again.” The expression has become a bit cliche . . . but what did He mean by it?

In the Gospel of John, chapter three, we read an exchange between Jesus and man named Nicodemus. In their conversation, Jesus told Nicodemus he needed to be “born again.” That is the one and only time Jesus used that expression.

Why did He speak that way to Nicodemus? What did Jesus mean by the expression? And, perhaps most importantly, what are the implications for us?

This one evening class will be a “reading lab.” We’ll spend our time in John 3:1-21, seeking to read attentively (even though the passage might well be familiar!). The class will meet, online, on Tuesday evening, July7, at 6:30 pm (EST, US).
