For over a dozen years, The River has engaged thousands withinteractive classes both in person and online. But the current of The River is more than its classes.
Consider the following.
River staff meets weekly with five local pastors/elders, three local church teachers, three small group leaders, and the teaching team of a local church. These meetings encourage local churches to help their people read and understand the Bible. The River’s influence is felt through sermon coaching, ongoing Bible study, and personal encouragement.
There are other meetings that occur less regularly, with various pastors and lay leaders, to pursue the same intended outcomes. In addition, The River staff is helping two different churches walk through the Biblical model of church eldership and is also exploring ways to come alongside three different churches to help them develop a more robust approach to spiritual gifts in their respective churches.
Several of The River board members are taking what they have learned though the ministry and are utilizing that both in personal mentoring of others in Bible reading, as well as in ministering in their local churches.
A local church with a long-standing relationship with The River has fully integrated our “Reading Scripture” class into its life. The church, with the River’s oversight and help, hosts its own class to train its members and welcome interested community participants. All small group leaders at this church are required to take the class.A local para-church discipleship ministry has asked The River to regularly provide its “Reading Scripture” class, which they consider essential to the discipleship training for growing Christians.
Hundreds of people, more comfortable reading and understanding the Bible, are now sharing with others, facilitating Bible reading with friends, and stepping into more influential personal ministry in their communities and churches.
