Event Details

Jonah. A “minor prophet” with a major problem. At least that’s the way he is often characterized. He’s spoken of as hard-hearted, prejudiced, unrepentant, wanting the worst for others, wholly disobedient, uncaring. But if that really was the case, then where is the appropriate corrective word from God for his wickedness? Yes, he was swallowed by a great fish when he was fleeing from a divine assignment, but there seems to be little repentance of his (presumed) wickedness before he is thrown up on the shore to complete his assignment.

So what is going on with this minor prophet? Actually a major message–a message that often gets obscured by the way we read Jonah’s story.

This one-night, online class will be a “lab” on reading an Old Testament narrative and an opportunity to encounter a prophet who might be the subject of a bad reputation that he doesn’t really deserve. The class will meet on Tuesday evening, August 27, at 6:30pm (EST).
